Guangxi Penshibao Co., Ltd. Wins National Agricultural, Animal Husbandry and Fishery Harvest Award

On December 19, 2019, Guangxi Penshibao Co., Ltd. received the certificate of the National Agricultural, Animal Husbandry and Fishery Harvest Award issued by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. Known as the "Oscar of the agricultural industry", the National Agricultural, Animal Husbandry and Fishery Harvest Award represents the highest honor in China’s agricultural sector. In 2019, the company’s project Cooperative Development, Promotion and Application of Multi-Element Ecological Water-Soluble Fertilizers won the First Prize – Cooperative Award for Agricultural Technology Extension of the National Agricultural, Animal Husbandry and Fishery Harvest Award. This is recognition and encouragement from the state for the company’s 35-year commitment to green and eco-friendly agriculture, as well as a fruitful achievement from long-term cooperation with numerous scientific research and extension institutions.

Academician Zhang Fusuo of the Chinese Academy of Engineering spoke highly of the award-winning achievement, noting that it includes several key technological breakthroughs and has been widely applied, delivering remarkable social, economic and eco-environmental benefits.

The Harvest Award was granted to the project developed and implemented over more than 10 years by a strong team dedicated to the cooperative development, promotion and application of ecological water-soluble fertilizers. The team consists of 14 agricultural scientific research and extension institutions and 35 experts, including the Cultivated Land Quality Monitoring and Protection Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the National Agricultural Technology Extension Service Center, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Soil and Fertilizer Workstation, Jiangxi Provincial Soil and Fertilizer Technology Extension Station, Henan Provincial Soil and Fertilizer Station, Jilin Provincial Soil and Fertilizer General Station, Liaoning Provincial Modern Agricultural Production Base Construction Engineering Center, Heilongjiang Provincial Soil and Fertilizer Management Station, China Agricultural University, Hunan Agricultural University, Nanning Soil and Fertilizer Workstation, Beihai Agricultural Technology Extension Center, Inner Mongolia Wuyuan County Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Technology Extension Center, and Yanjia Town Agricultural Development Service Center of Linghai City, Liaoning Province.

During this period, other affiliated institutions of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and agricultural technology, soil and fertilizer extension departments at all levels in many provinces provided strong support. Due to application requirements, their names were not listed on the award certificate one by one, but their contributions will always be remembered by all staff of Penshibao.

From 2008 to 2018, through systematic research on the efficacy and mechanism of multi-element ecological water-soluble fertilizers, Penshibao and its cooperative partners obtained scientific data proving the fertilizer’s effects in reducing fertilizer use while increasing efficiency, enhancing stress resistance and disaster mitigation, improving disease and pest resistance, degrading pesticide residues, and reducing heavy metal pollution, providing reliable scientific and technological support for large-scale promotion and application.

In promoting the project, Penshibao and agricultural technology departments adopted the "Enterprise+" four-drive coordinated extension model, which includes the "Enterprise + Government" driving model, "Enterprise + Extension" promoting model, "Enterprise + Universities" linkage model, and "Enterprise + Large Farmers" interaction model. These new models gave full play to the complementary advantages of enterprises, governments, extension departments, universities and large-scale farmers, explored and established an industry-university-extension collaborative promotion mechanism, accelerated the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, and promoted green agricultural development, agricultural efficiency improvement and farmers’ income growth.

Penshibao’s trial and demonstration sites cover 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities across China, with a total of 288 trials and 29 demonstrations arranged. The number of trial crops has expanded from 9 initially to 38. Through years of uninterrupted trials and demonstrations on a wide scale, a long-term annual mechanism for testing and demonstrating Penshibao products has been gradually established, making the results more durable and widely convincing.

Being conferred the National Agricultural, Animal Husbandry and Fishery Harvest Award marks a new starting point for Penshibao in pursuing agricultural development through science and technology.
